Opportunity

Smart Layer is the evolution of what the Smart Token Labs' team has been developing since 2017. The core concept of Smart Layer is to enable the next wave of web innovation, utilising their concept of a ‘Smart Token’. Smart Tokens allow for modular web services for web composability, carry advanced functionality becoming mini dApps and serve as an integration point between Web2 and Web3.

We Discover were engaged to design the Smart Layer brand, web and community engagement experiences (Smart Cats xNFTs) to successfully communicate the offering and build community engagement for their upcoming token sale.

WHAT WE DId

Working closely with their core team, we rapidly designed and iterated on design concepts in Figma, experimenting with messaging and visual concepts, which were tested with various Web2 companies to optimise.

Next, we collaborated closely with their tech team to design a consumer website. This website incorporated their attestation product, which meant we had to design a simple but effective user experience that enabled a smooth onboarding process without the need for a wallet. We then designed flows and a slick UI that allowed users to obtain a 'Smart Pass' through this system seamlessly, enabling them to track their progress in completing quests and earning points.

In addition to designing the brand concepts and website, we also created and illustrated the Smart Cat NFTs and artwork. We utilised Midjourney and RunwayML for rapid creation of supporting assets.

OUTCOME

The Smart Layer and Smart Cats NFT projects have gained substantial support and hype, attracting a large and engaged community on Discord and Twitter. The Smart Cats xNFT is now a fully on-chain derivative of Cool Cat #2426, featuring embedded Smart Token utility, mini games, and various rarities with associated artwork. Within just 7 days, the game "Smart Cat" reached the top spot on DappRadar for Games on Polygon Labs, which is quite impressive.

These numbers continue to grow and have exceeded initial expectations. More people are aligning with and backing the vision of a tokenised future for the web and being part of this project and future token sale.
